About the Artist

Welcome! My name is Georges Becherel. Although I was born in Ibiza, I spent the first thirty years of my life in Mauritius before moving to Sweden in 1994, where I now live and paint.

The Perfect, Reimagined

Nature is already perfect. My paintings are not attempts to reproduce that perfection, but to reimagine it through colour, simplicity, and the freedom of naïve expression. Working exclusively with acrylic on canvas, I celebrate the handcrafted, the spontaneous, and the human touch. Every line is painted by hand, every shape bears the trace of a human gesture, and every painting transforms familiar subjects into playful interpretations rather than faithful reproductions.

Inspired by memories of Mauritius, everyday life, and the expressive language of naïve art, I create colourful worlds where imagination takes precedence over realism, where unexpected proportions replace precision, and where ordinary subjects become invitations to wonder.
